Celebrating 60yrs in 2018, I was pleased to join the team at Good Design Australia and take on a couple of priority Comms projects.
I was Writer/Editor/Design Manager of the 60th anniversary book, working with Frost* collective. I also project managed three ‘Voices of Good Design‘ films which capture the thoughts of many notable designers, thinkers and changemakers from around the world, from Hartmut Esslinger of Apple fame, to Deyan Sudjic from the Design Museum, London.
The commemorative edition book takes a look at Good Design Australia’s rich history, from 1958. It was originally based on the UK ‘Design Council’ model, and includes an introductory interview with the current Design Council CEO, Sarah Weir. A number of thought-provoking articles explore the Past, Present and Future of Design in Australia and internationally. Six notable designers and changemakers share their thoughts on the role of design in the future: Hartmut Esslinger of Apple fame, design-thinking guru Roger Martin, Arup’s Tristram Carfrae, Vince Frost of Frost Collective, Vincent Stanley CEO of Patagonia and Shamika Sirimanne from the United Nations. The book is a wonderful celebration of GDA’s role in promoting design to business, industry and the general public over the last six decades. It can be purchased here.
Good Design Australia is an international design promotion organisation responsible for running Australia’s Good Design Awards, one of the longest standing and most prestigious design awards in the world, with its origins dating back to 1958.
